Course structure: the programme consists of:

• Theoretical training: 7 hours + 1 hour of cyber security
• Practical training: at least 4 hours
• On-the-job training: 3 hours (vehicle examination techniques)

Exam and certification: at the end there is a theory test of at least 10 questions, with the certified instructor physically present, and a practical test. To pass the course, the error rate must not exceed 20% in each test.

If the outcome is positive, the instructor issues the training certificate that qualifies the holder for the ENAC certification procedure. The certification is valid for 5 years.

Certificate: a certificate of attendance is issued.

• Knowledge of previous acts of unlawful interference, terrorist acts and current threats
• Awareness of the main legal obligations and knowledge of the elements that contribute to a resilient security culture (including insider threat and radicalisation)
• Objectives and organisation of aviation security, obligations and responsibilities in the supply chain
• Knowledge of procedures for challenging persons and of the circumstances in which they should be reported
• Reporting procedures
• Knowledge of vehicle examination techniques
• Ability to examine a vehicle to a standard sufficient to reasonably ensure the detection of concealed prohibited articles
• Appropriate response to security incidents
• How human behaviour affects security performance
• Clear and confident communication
• Knowledge of elements of cyber security (point 11.2.8 of Regulation (EU) 2015/1998)

To ensure that staff carrying out vehicle examinations apply standardised security control methods to safeguard civil aviation against acts of unlawful interference.
